19 Good Things a Lady in Her 20’s should know

1. Love and honour your mother. Learn from her mistakes. It will save you a lot of headache in your thirties (30s) and beyond.

2. You are more talented than you’ll ever know. You don’t need to sleep with your Boss/ supervisor to get a promotion at work or better grades at school. Burn late night candles; put extra time to study and practice until you master your skill. Hard work still pays well and does not kill.

3. Women can build a strong support network. Don’t let few ladies with “Pull Her Down” {PHD} syndrome discourage you from cultivating true relationship with your female friends.

4. When a man you meet for the first time babbles about how much he earns working for an oil company and how rich he is, that is a red flag. He is either a married smooth-talker who just wants to sleep with you or he is childish. Walk away from deceit.

5. Make your own money. Start small. Maintain a stable bank account. It will keep you out of trouble.

6. When you meet your Soul mate, don’t forget to wear your most priceless ornament- submission and humility. But while waiting for him, don’t cling to any man to rescue you. Some men these days are also seeking for who will rescue them.

7. Know your body. Look at yourself in front of a full-length mirror at least once a week, naked and after clothed. Know your body and how it works.

8. Life is a gift. But to revel in it, you must be ready to put a lot into nurturing your gifts/talents and skills. Start early.

9. Teenage ended at 19. Clocking 20 means doing away with childish behaviour. But it does not mean you should forget to have fun. You can catch fun and not be dirty.

10. Learn the basic skills and let yourself grow- from how to keep your underwear clean, cook, socialize, and network to how to drive a car.

11. Don’t do drugs. It kills. Read books, it fortifies. Dance as often as you can, it liberates your spirit, soul and body.

12. Partnership builds bridges. Don’t ever forget that.

13. Eat healthy. Learn to cook for yourself. Don’t rely on noodles alone. The cooking skill will be useful in future.

14. Don’t give up when you fail. Try again and again. Don’t give up on education/ learning.

15. Fear of the future. It is a state of mind you must learn to tame. Don’t let fear pull the carpet from under your feet. The Holy Bible tells us that God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind.

16. Let go of past hurts. You cannot move forward if you keep looking back. Holding on to bitter experiences and regrets will stale your future.

17. Learn to exhale, love deeply and be kind to others, especially those of low estate, and the lowest of low.

18. You are beautiful the way you are. Don’t compare yourself to others.

19. Prayer is the master key. Have faith in God and always have the courage to use your voice wisely. Dream big today.

Fear simply means False Evidence Appearing Real. Enjoy the highs and lows that come with being in your 20s but don’t be afraid to grow older. Live life to the fullest and don’t forget to smile always!

BONUS: Share this with your friends. sharing is caring afterall.

Memo to Doris Simeon by an anonymous colleague and Stella Dimoko Korkus

Culled from SDK Blog:

This memo was sent in by a 'celebrity' who has been keeping an eye on the Daniel-Doris-Stella saga and sent in this lamentation but wishes to remain anonymous for reasons best known to her. Her memo follows : ''YES..the lady in the picture is our very own Doris Simeon-Ademinokan.Well, until a few months ago..And that is if nothing has changed since her husband, Daniel Ademinokan, eloped with Stella Damasus Aboderin Nzeribe Ademinokan. Oops..a mouthful that was. Anyhow, I am more concerned, and worried sick for my dear lady,Doris.
Click to continue reading...
I seriously do not like her looks in this photograph.Oh By the way,the man in the picture is just her friend o.Please don't insinuate or pass any bias assertions. He is very married with kids. THANK YOU!  But...I almost didn't recognize Doris at all.She looks rather frail,dejected,colorless...etc.Or is it my eyes..or Doris has aged overnight?Perhaps from too much stress? NO thanks to DANIEL AND HIS WHORE STELLA DAMATURU!!

MEMO to Doris.. PLEASE darling, get your groove back on as Stella did.Stella is the one who should be having sleepless nights looking like this and not you.don't worry darling, whatever the locust(Stella)came to steal from you like a thief in the night will be restored to you in Jesus mighty name! Please get on your groove back and dust your shoulders. Daniel is a male whore so good riddance to bad rubbish!''

From Stella To Stella
*Stella Damasus i don't care if you still claim you didn't snatch Daniel from Doris but I wonder how you can still sleep with all this..I wonder how you part your legs for him and enjoy the sex..I wonder how you wear his engagement ring without it weighing your hands down...I wonder how you plan to become his wife when the woman who's place you stepped into is still crying.

you keep talking about God on your blog...do you know God Stella?God will not give you anything that will bring you shame or dishonour if you really worship him in spirit and in truth.
I don't care whether you marry Daniel or not but i am really upset that you have another woman's child with you..that is perhaps the reason she has aged overnight.

Another woman's child calls you mother when the mother is still alive? .Stella you are my namesake and Stella's are strong, independent women who are go getter's on the positive, not this kind.
God put you through the threshold for a reason but you left the threshold before the appointed time.I am in no position to judge you,i only speak from pain as a mother...you have your kids with you and you monitor their growing up phase, why should another woman be denied hers?

Stay with Daniel if you want but please you are a mother right?let God minister to you and Daniel so you both can return Doris Simeons son to her... this is a soft memo for now and i am watching events unfold.

PLEASE RETURN THIS BEAUTIFUL WOMAN'S child to her and then continue with whatever binds you both.
God is watching you Stella...selah

(Photo: Punch)

Nothing less than 150 shops was destroyed by the fire at the Ekwulobia Main Market in Anambra State.

On Thursday, the fire which was said to have started at about 12 noon affected most parts of the  electronics market, but the cause is still unknown.

People claim the fire fighter arrived late to the scene and as at 5pm, rescuers were still trying to salvage some goods from the remains of the fire, no lives has been reported lost.
According to reports, the fire service from Awka, rather than the one at Ekwulobia, responded to distress calls where traders lost inestimable goods and cash.

The President General of Ekwulobia Traders Allied Workers Association Ikechukwu Ezeokeke and Chairman of the Electronics line Ekwulobia, Frank Timothy, grieved over the huge loss the traders suffered.

“I am a confused person now,” a victim, John Chetachukwu, said.

“My shop got burnt completely. I was in my house when the youths came to bring me to this place around 4pm . I saw the inferno and I was speechless.”

“Although I lost everything but I thank everybody including the DPO Ekwulobia and many others for rallying around us.”

The Punch reports:
Another victim, Kingsley Osedume, said he could not salvage a pin and his shop was the only source of the extended family income and called for help.
For Richard Okoli, who deals on interior decoration, said he just came back with goods worth over N600,000 from the market yesterday which were razed.
The Local government Chairman, Mr. Titus Anigbogu consoled the traders and assured them he would table their situation to the state government for appropriate actions.

Ladoja Creates Drama At Adedibu’s Fidau

There was a mild drama on Wednesday at the 5th Fidau in honour of the late politician, Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu, as former Oyo State governor, Rashidi Ladoja, rejected the chair offered him by the organisers of the programme. The former governor, who arrived at the Molete residence of the late politician in company with his wife, Mutia, also refused to exchange greetings with the former deputy governor of the state, Hazeem Gbolarumi. Gbolarumi was deputy governor during the 11-month tenure of Adebayo Alao-Akala following Ladoja's impeachment in January, 2006. After greeting the dignitaries and some of his aides, the former governor rejected the plastic chair that was reserved for him. One of his security aides had replaced the chair with another one when one of the organisers insisted that Ladoja should sit on a reserved seat. Ladoja's aides, however, insisted that the former governor would not sit on the chair. Meanwhile, some political disciples of the late politician said the vacuum left behind by Adedibu "is too big for any politician in the state and the entire South-West to wear." Former Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Mikail Aborode, said, "The demise of Adedibu greatly affects the chances of the party not only in Oyo State but in the South-West." The Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Imam Busari Haruna, urged politicians to emulate the good deeds of the late politician.

Messi could face SIX YEARS in jail

Messi could face SIX YEARS in jail if found guilty of £3.4m tax fraud... but Barcelona superstar vows to prove his innocence Lionel Messi has been accused of tax fraud to the tune of £3.4million. And reports in Spain suggest the Barcelona superstar could face up to six years in jail if he is found guilty. A lawsuit was lodged against the Barcelona forward and his father by a state prosecutor for the north eastern region of Catalonia. The complaint has been submitted for trial in Gava, the upscale Barcelona district where the 25-year-old lives. Both Messi and his father, Jorge Horacio, are accused of three offences against the public purse for allegedly defrauding more than £3.4m in income tax returns relating to the years 2007, 2008 and 2009.  A judge at the courthouse must accept the prosecutor's lawsuit before charges can be brought. Spanish news agency EFE are reporting that Messi could face up to six years in jail and a large fine if convicted. Barcelona declined to comment on the lawsuit while Messi expressed his surprise. He said: 'We have just known through the media about the claim filed by the Spanish tax authorities. We are surprised about those news, because we have never committed any infringement. 'We have always fulfilled all our tax obligations, following the advices of our Tax Consultants who will take care of clarifying this situation.' Messi is enjoying a day off after playing for his national team in Quito, where Argentina was held to 1-1 by Ecuador in a qualifying match for the World Cup. Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella has said Messi was expected to be included in the lineup for a friendly against Guatemala on Friday.

PHOTOS: Wizkid And His Fleet of Cars

Wizkid has acquired more than four cars in the last 2 years of his
remarkable career.
Recently, Wizzy added a N14.6million Porsche Panamera S luxurious
automobile to his fleet of cars.

This, he made public when he posted photos of the car on picture
sharing website, Instagram with the caption, 'My new baby'.

Our first knowledge of his car purchase was in 2011-a black Honda
Accord i-VTEC which was later snatched by robbers in March of that
same year. Soon afterwards in September, the youngster quickly took
delivery of a N6million blue Volkswagen convertible.

In July of the following year, his exploits at the 2012 Headies Awards
saw him taking home the award for the 'Next Rated' category which
included a prize of an automobile; a 2012 model Hyundai Sonata.

It has become the belief of most entertainers that owning exotic cars
actually ups their status in the eyes of their fans and possibly
increasing their worth with brands that would likely hire their
services or affiliate with them.

Like the title of his debut album 'Superstar', Wizkid has risen
steadily to become one of Nigeria's richest entertainers, grossing
between N3million to N6million per show, depending on the details.

Earlier on in the year, the 23-year old singer acquired an expensive
property in a choice area of Lekki, Lagos, reportedly worth over
N140m. Let's not forget, he's enjoying a sweet endorsement deal with
Pepsi and  its been confirmed he's also signed with telecoms company,
MTN.

Cab Driver Returns Cash And Diamonds Worth Over N50m

Abdul Halim pointing to the boot of his cab where he found the bag
containing cash and diamonds

An Egyptian businessman who left Dh200,000 (N8.7m)in cash and Dh1
million (N43m) worth of diamonds in the trunk of a taxi had nearly
given up hope of ever finding it. Luckily for him, he boarded the cab
of an honest driver who reunited him with his treasure.

Bangladeshi cabbie Abdul Halim, who earns around Dh3,500 (N153,135) a
month, said he discovered the hoard after duty hours. "My shift ended
at 4.30pm and as usual I checked the boot. Inside lay a big brown
leather bag. I opened it and I froze. There were several wads of
currency, a chequebook and a boxful of diamonds. I hadn't seen
anything like this before," said the 31-year-old, recalling the May 25
incident.

Halim said he instantly realised that the bag could belong to the
Egyptian he picked up at Al Mas Tower in Jumeirah Lakes Tower (JLT) to
go to the Deira Gold Souq that morning.

"I knew what I had to do. But just as I was about to alert my office,
I got a call from Dubai Police enquiring about the bag. I told them it
was with me and immediately set off for Naif police station.

"The Egyptian was waiting for me there. A big smile beamed across his
face when he saw me. The police then opened the bag in front of us and
started checking the contents."

It was then that Halim realised the bag's value. Convinced that
nothing was missing, the Egyptian patted me back and rewarded my
honesty with some cash.

More rewards followed from his company RTA and even the Emirates
Identity Authority.

"Abdul Halim is our hero," said Abdul Rahim Mohammad Al Ali, Events
Specialist, Resources and Support Department at the Roads and
Transport Authority (RTA).

"We have around 8,000 drivers for 3,500 taxis and I can vouch that
every one of them is honest. Within RTA, we have a strict policy that
if there is a complaint from a passenger and the driver does not
report it, he is immediately fired," said Ali.

"If passengers lose something in the taxi and they have not noted the
taxi number, all they have to do is inform us of the exact location
where they were picked up and dropped off, the time of their journey
and an approximate fare they paid. We have an efficient system where
we can track down the taxi and the driver," said Ali

Jonathan, Tinubu, Fashola Mourn Rolling Dollar

President Goodluck Jonathan led the flood of tributes for the departed accomplished and multi-talented Nigerian musician, Pa Fatai Olayiwola Olagunju, popularly known as Fatai Rolling Dollar, who passed away earlier today. President Jonathan said he shared the grief of all lovers of music over the death of the illustrious entertainer, master singer, guitarist and exponent of the native thumb piano who continued to perform and exhibit his unqualified love for the music profession at an age when most of his contemporaries had long retired. National leader, Action Congress of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu also described the death of Fatai Rolling Dollar as a colossal loss to both the Music industry and Nigerians.""He was in a class of his own. An exceptionally talented musician, Fatai Rolling Dollar was way ahead of his peers. He was a great musical talent, who churned out great music. The originality of his lyrics was such that they were never easily forgotten even as they resonated across different ages and societal strata. Tinubu said the music meastro remains one of the wonders of the Nigerian music industry in the past century. "Like millions of followers, I mourn his passing away, but I celebrate a life of excellence and a brilliant musical career". "Fatai must be remembered as one of Nigeria's musical icon, a musical historian of note and a master of his art whose music delighted millions for decades. Tinubu prayed for the wife and children to have the fortitude to bear their loss and God's protection", a statement by Tinubu said. On his part, Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN) said the loss of the musical innovator would reverberate around the musical world and beyond. In a condolence letter to Mrs Funmilayo Olagunju, the widow of the late musician, Governor Fashola said he was a first rate guitarist under whose tutelage several other musical legends learnt to play the instrument. ''Your husband was a musical innovator who made a great contribution to the profile of Nigerian Highlife music on the global stage,'' he said. According to the Governor, Rolling Dollar is assured of his place amongst the pantheon of Nigerian musical greats with hits like 'Won Kere si Number Wa' and 'Saworo' enduring in the memory of generations to come. ''Growing up in the 1960s and 1970s it was impossible to escape the presence of this iconic genius across Lagos. I am pleased and gratified that in the latter part of his life Lagos State was able to reacquaint itself once again with his singular talents,'' he said.

Oprah Winfrey donates $12 million to African American history museum

Oprah Winfrey is giving $12 million to a planned Washington, D.C.,
museum that will document African American history. Items from her
talk show could be part of its exhibits.

The National Museum of African American History and Culture announced
Tuesday that Winfrey's gift, combined with her previous donation of $1
million, is its largest to date.

"I am so proud of African-American history and its contributions to
our nation as a whole," Winfrey said in a statement released by the
museum. "By investing in this museum, I want to help ensure that we
both honor and preserve our culture and history, so that the stories
of who we are will live on for generations to come."

Construction of the museum, which carries a $500-million price tag,
started early last year on 5 acres at Washington's National Mall with
a completion date set for sometime in 2015. The U.S. government is
providing half of the funding for the museum, which will be the 19th
addition to the Smithsonian, with the remainder to be raised by the
museum.

Fayose escapes death by whiskers

Former Ekiti State governor, Mr Ayo Fayose, escaped death by whiskers
Tuesday night, in Ado Ekiti, as some suspected hired thugs, who had
been on his trail, shot his car.

According to a press statement by the Ayo Fayose Campaign Organisation
(AFCO) and signed by the Campaign Director General, Mr Owoseni Ajayi,
Fayose, who was coming from Ado Ekiti  to Afao Ekiti, his hometown at
around 9pm was trailed by a white colour Hilux with green plate number
to Fayose Housing Estate at Afao Ekiti road.

Fayose's driver was able to detect a vehicle trailing them and
immediately alerted the former governor.

The driver immediately increased the car's speed and when the
assailants, who were already hanging out of the Hilux vehicle saw that
they could not catch up with the speed of Fayose's car, shot four
times at the car.

However, seeing that Fayose had arrived Afao-Ekiti, the Hilux turned back.

Earlier in the day, Fayose had received a call from somebody, who
called himself Solar, telling

Fayose that he (Solar) was a life waster and that Fayose should expect
a tough time ahead 2014 election, but the former governor took the
message for granted.
The statement described Fayose as a leading PDP governorship aspirant
for the 2014 governorship poll.

The AFCO, therefore, said it was raising the alarm because of the
recent killing of Ayodele Jeje at Erijiyan Ekiti, over which the ACN
chairman, Chief Jide Awe, had been charged to court.
Owoseni Ajayi accused the ACN-led government of promoting violence in
the state to scare the opposition parties.

He, therefore, called on the police to take appropriate action before
the ACN turn the state into a war zone.

Police Tighten Hospital Security As Mandela’s Condition Remains Unchanged

Nelson-Mandela-9397017-1-402
Former South African president Nelson Mandela is still in “serious but stable” condition in hospital, a government spokesman has said.

Presidency spokesman Mac Maharaj told SAFM radio this morning that Mandela’s condition was little changed from Tuesday, when the government made a similar statement about the 94-year-old anti-apartheid icon’s health.

“President Zuma has full confidence in the medical team and is satisfied that they are doing their best to make Madiba better,” it said, referring to Mandela by his clan name.

Police have tightened security around Pretoria’s Medi-Clinic Heart Hospital where Mandela is being treated.
About a dozen police officers were deployed outside the building, which was cordoned off by barriers and police tape to keep the domestic and international reporters and television crews stationed outside away from the entrance.

All vehicles going into the building were being searched.

Mandela was admitted early on Saturday with a recurring lung infection.

It is his fourth hospital stay since December, and there is a growing realisation among South Africa’s 53 million people that they will one day have to say goodbye to the father of the “Rainbow Nation” that Mandela tried to forge from the apartheid-era.

Crisis Looms In Ondo As State NURTW EXCO Delays Fresh Elections

nurtw
The alleged refusal of the present executives to allow for election despite the expiration of their tenure, may end in another fracas among members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Ondo State
A faction of the union has therefore called on the National Secretariat of the union to dissolve the state EXCO to avoid blood-letting and violence that usually characterise the change of leadership of the union.
The present executives’ four year tenure led by Chief Obayoriade Oladutele is said to have lapsed on April 19, 2013, but the executives remained in power ever since, with no plans of fresh elections apparent.
A faction of the union named Peace Movement in a letter written to both the governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and the leadership of the union, said they should prevail on the present executive to dissolve the state union and organise an election.
The Secretary of the Peace Movement Mayowa Olofinniyi said the present executive assumed office in May 2009.
Olofiniyi said the Section 17 of the NURTW constitution empowers the national body to dissolve the state executive following the expiration of their tenure.
The Peace Movement in another letter to the governor said, “in oder to ensure peace in all the branches of NURTW in Ondo State we implore your office to instruct the EXCO to set machinery in motion for the conduct of fresh election.
In his reaction, an aide to the state Chairman, Chief Oladutele, denied that the present EXCO does not want to leave office. Rather, he said, that the other faction should wait for the directive from national secretariat of the union for the dissolution of the EXCO.
He promised that the present EXCO will not stay a day longer in office as soon as the national secretariat gives directive.

Prosecute Passengers Who Hang On Roof Of Coaches – NURW

train

Despite warnings and arrests on different occasions, some passengers still hang on roof of train coaches in Lagos. Following the continued menace, National Union of Railway Workers, NURW, has now called for the establishment of mobile courts, to deal with hoodlums and passengers hanging on the roof of coaches.

Investigation revealed that an average of 80 illegal passengers hang on the roof of coaches on daily train shuttles from Ijoko in Ogun, to Iddo and to Apapa, in Lagos.

The illegal passengers are common on trains that leave Ijoko to Iddo or Apapa between 6.15 a.m. and 8: 00 a.m.

General Secretary of NURW, Martin Adeyanju, lamented that the illegal passengers were a major challenge to the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, because some of such passengers had fallen off the trains in the past and died.
“Our stations are porous,” Adeyanju said, noting, “The Ikeja station, for example, can be fenced. If the train gets to the station and it is only 30 seats that are available, the ticket operator will sell tickets only to that number of passengers.”

Adeyanju noted that roof-top riders had developed tactics to enable them continued the criminal act without tickets, noting that “at each station, they inform one another through the phone that security officials are at a particular station, to arrest defaulters.

“Apart from that, when there is security checks at any station, those with tickets inside the train will pass their tickets to the roof-riders. When the security personnel approach the roof-riders, they will show their tickets to prove that they paid, but could not get any seats. It is a dilemma,” Adeyanju said.

Collapsed Mushin Building Has 10 Landlords

The dilapidated building was said to have collapsed because each of the landlords wanted the other person to maintain it and the buckpassing continued for years until it collapsed Tuesday.

Now they will have to forfeit the land on which the house was built to the state government.

The Lagos State government through its agent, LASBCA, has ordered the tenants still occupying two other defective storey buildings close to the collapsed one at 353, Agege Motor Road, Challenge Bus Stop, Mushin, to pack out so that they could be demolished.

The notice to quit was written on the wall of the building and the tenants have already parked out their belongings.

A child died when the building collapsed Tuesday and some of the occupants were reportedly trapped in the rubble. Security agents rescued some of the trapped tenants.

There were three buildings in that place and the one in the middle collapsed while the ones in front and behind remained.
It is the remaining ones that the tenants were ordered to leave by LASBCA.

The collapsed house was built about 40 years ago by the owner known as Baba Jebba. After he died years ago, his children inherited the property and shared it among themselves.

According to the tenants, the ten landlords are only interested in collecting rent from them but don’t care about its maintenance.

One of the tenants whose family was trapped, Nojeem Bello, told newsmen that he had gone to work when he had a call that their house had collapsed.

He said when he got home, his wife and child were trapped and it was through the help of the rescue team that they were released.

Bello thanked God and said the only thing he escaped with was the clothes he was wearing because
all his belongings were destroyed.

The Hungry One: New Chelsea boss Mourinho fills up on doughnuts

Jose Mourinho was spotted eating dougnuts rather hurredly at Heathrow Airport on Wednesday as he prepared to board a flight from London to Lisbon.

The new Chelsea manager seemed to have a big box of Krispy Kreme treats in his possession as shown in the pictures below.

It is unclear why he decided to eat them in such a fashion, although perhaps he was told he could not transport them to Portugal in his suitcase.

But they say hard work is hungry work and Jose has much to do to get Chelsea in order for the new season.

As well as bringing in a striker, he needs to work out what to do with Fernando Torres, who has been linked with a move to Barcelona.

As he awaits to discover if there will indeed be a parting, the 27-year-old will comb Europe for a new club. Presumably it won’t be Barnet.

One thing is for certain, with his latest trim, the star won’t need Rihanna’s famous ‘Umbrella’ to save his hair from getting messed up.

Rooney has had a second ‘top-up’ transplant procedure, just two years after the first operation.

The last time he went under the knife - at the same clinic ahead of the 2011-12 season - he went on to open the following campaign with nine goals in his first five Premier League matches.

The 27-year-old went through a nine-hour operation last weekend as a follow on from his 2011 surgery at London’s Harley Street Hair Clinic.

According to the clinic, the second procedure is ‘standard’, and is part of the £15,000 Wayne paid for the procedure two years ago.

Quite where Rooney will be weaving his way through defenders next season remains to be seen.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Paris St Germain are among those tracking his progress.
Earlier this week Jose Mourinho has opened the door for him to make the switch to Stamford Bridge, urging the England star to do what ‘makes him happy’.

Well, he’s certainly happier in himself on top now.

The midfielder, 26, has been linked with a return to England, two years after he left Arsenal for the Nou Camp. He has been a regular in La Liga but has been left out of key Champions League matches and jeered by Barca fans.

Even though Arsenal still have first refusal on their former player, United would be sure to show interest if Fabregas became available. But he maintains he has no intention of leaving Barcelona.

“It has taken a lot for me to get where I am – and I am not thinking about throwing it all away for nothing,” he said.

“If Barcelona said that they didn’t want me, that would be another thing. But what I truly want is to triumph at Barcelona. That’s been my dream since I was a kid.

“The way in which some people always invent things is fascinating. If people boo me then I will have to cope with that.”

“I’m very lucky there are quite a few Spanish speakers here. It will help me settle in,” he said. Varela will provide competition for first-choice right-back Rafael.

World's Oldest Person Dies in Japan at 116

World's Oldest Person Dies in Japan at 116

The world's oldest person, and the oldest man in recorded history, has died in western Japan at the age of 116.

Japanese officials say Jiroemon Kimura died Wednesday of natural causes in a hospital near Kyoto where he had been receiving treatment for pneumonia.

Guinness World Records says Kimura, who was born in 1897, is the world's only man to have lived to 116 years of age. It recognized him as the world's oldest living person in December, after a U.S. woman died at the age of 115.

Kimura, who worked at a post office and later was a farmer, is survived by seven children, 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Media reports say he attributed his longetivity to getting outside in the sunlight and eating meals until he was only 80 percent full.

With Kimura's death, 115-year-old Misao Okawa, a Japanese woman from Osaka, is now the world's oldest person.

Harrison Okene was in the bathroom of the Jascon 4 in the early hours when the tug begun to capsize in heavy seas, 20 miles off the Nigerian coast. But unlike his 11 colleagues, all of whom were locked in their rooms for safety against piracy and are thought to have perished, Mr Okene was able to locate an air pocket and await rescue.

“I prayed about a hundred times,” he said. “When I was tired, I started calling on the name of God. I was just calling on His name for divine intervention.”

The drama began at 5am on May 26, when the tug – owned by West African Ventures, a Nigerian subsidiary of a Dutch contractor – was caught up in heavy swell. Towing a Chevron tanker in the Escravos area, in the Gulf of Guinea, the boat found itself in trouble.
Kurt Glaubitz, Chevron spokesman, said the boat overturned while towing an oil tanker.

“Initial reports indicated that heavy ocean swells caused the Jascon 4 to capsize, while performing tension tow operations of the tanker,” he said

Mr Okene told The Nation: “I was dazed and everywhere was dark as I was thrown from one end of the small cubicle to another.

“I made my way out of the toilet, groped through the dark into a place I imagined was the officers’ rest room.

“From there I moved to engineers’ office. I wasn’t seeing, I was just feeling my way with my hands.”

As he waited, 30 metres under the sea, water began rising in the cabin. Mr Okene took two mattresses from the beds and sat on top of them, hoping to stay afloat in his small prison.
Hungry, cold and tired, he became aware of the sound of marine life swimming through the bowels of the ship. Then he heard loud noises as the fish – he thought they could be barracuda or sharks – started thrashing around, fighting over something big. He feared it was the corpses of his colleagues, and armed himself with a plank in case any animals swam into his space.

“At that point I was very scared,” he said. “I said: ‘So this is how I am going to die?’ What would happen to my wife? So she will become a widow? I don’t even have a child yet. What about my mother and everybody I love – so I will never see them again?”

Back on the mainland, Mr Okene’s family had heard about the accident – except for his wife, Akpos, who had lost her mobile phone earlier that day.

But his older brother did not want to break the news to their mother, so instead concocted the story that there was a family meeting in Lagos – so that he could tell her when she was surrounded by older relatives.

“As we were going to Lagos his elder brother kept talking on the phone, in codes and in hushed tones. I was curious but he assured me it was just business discussions,” Mrs Okene said.

“I did not know that he was involved in an accident at sea, and that’s why they were dragging me to Lagos.”

Out in the ocean, a search and rescue team had been sent to locate the remains of the men. They swiftly found ten of the 11 bodies, and were not expecting to find anything more.

“Then I heard a sound like anchor dropping again,” Mr Okene said. “I also heard sound of paddling and divers’ craft moving around the boat. I heard a hammering sound from afar.”
Wadding through the room, he found more tools, including a hammer. He began to strip the wall of the cabin until he got to the steel body.

“I started using the hammer to hit the wall to attract the divers. I heard them moving about. They were far away from where I was. I did that for some minutes and stopped. After a while, the sound died.”

Mr Okene thought that he would not be discovered, but the rescuers returned and the freezing cook jumped into the water, swimming through the ship to get the attention of the diver.
“I touched his head and he was shocked. He was searching and I just saw the light, so I jumped into the water. As he was shocked, he stretched out his hands.”
Mr Okene said he heard voices from the diver’s speaker shouting: “There is a survivor, he is alive.”

Paul McDonald, a member of the rescue crew, said: “All on board could not believe how cool he was when being rescued.

“The divers put a diving helmet and harness onto him. It was amazing to be part of this rescue.”

Mr Okene explained: “At that point I knew there was nothing I could do for myself. I just had to wait and see.”

Having been underwater for so long, he had to be brought up slowly and put in a decompression chamber. Arriving at the surface at 7pm on Tuesday, he thought he had only been trapped for 12 hours.

“When we came out, I saw the stars in the sky and I thought I must have been in the water for the whole day. I thought it was the Sunday evening.

“It was after I left that I was told that I had spent over two days there,” he said.
Last week West African Ventures said it had called off the search for the remaining crew member.

In a statement the company said: “Our divers performed an extremely difficult and dangerous task in the most testing of conditions.

“We are grateful for their professional service, as well as the contributions of many other personnel who gave all their efforts to this challenging recovery operation.

“Mr Harrison Okene has been brought to the surface safely and he continues to respond to treatment.”

Ogo & Emeka’s Fun and Romantic Pre-Wedding PhotoShoot

umejei-ogoegbu-keith-cephus-photography013
Ogo and Emeka’s pre-wedding shoot by Keith Cephus Photography. Ogo and Emeka met through a mutual friend while he was visiting the U.S.A. From the fly away with me theme to relaxing on yacht, these two prove love is truly sweet.
Bride-to-be: Ogo
Groom-to-be: Emeka
How they Met bride's story:
Emeka and I were introduced to each other by his cousin while he was visiting the United States.  We had an instant connection which blossomed into so much that even the Atlantic Ocean could not separate us from one other.  After three and a half months of daily phone calls, endless Skype sessions, and countless Whatsapp messages, he flew me into London and officially asked me to be his girlfriend.
Thanks to our faith in God, we have coordinated a long distance relationship going back and forth between Europe and the United States.  He surprised me at my birthday dinner with his presence and a proposal, so of course I said “Yes!”  Well according to the guests, I said “I Do!”  Due to the complexity of our relationship with the distance, I wanted our engagement session concept to reflect us; our trials and tribulations with having a long distance relationship that despite the odds yielded in a successful and solid union.  Hence the concept, “By air, by land, and by sea…our Love goes the distance.”  No matter where we physically are, our hearts are always with each other.
Our love has no sense of time, place, and distance.  I am grateful that Keith Cephus Photography allowed our vision to become a reality with his AMAZING work.  He was so excited when I discussed our concept with him and he contributed with his artistic talent and we are so very pleased with the end result.  Thank you so much Keith!
