Confederations Cup: Eagles return after ouster

The team lost to Spain on Sunday. The Super Eagles are expected back in Nigeria on Monday after Sunday night’s ouster from the FIFA Confederations Cup. According to team officials, the team will depart Fortaleza for Sao Paolo en route Lagos on Monday morning. The players are expected to leave their Seara Praia Hotel in Fortaleza by 10:30 a.m. local time, which is 2:30 p.m. Nigerian time for Sao Paolo from where they will join a flight to Johannesburg, South Africa and another to Lagos. Some of the foreign based players will not be part of the returning party as they jet out to either meet their clubs for pre-season tours or plan for new abodes in the coming season in Europe that begins in the August. The Super Eagles lost to Uruguay and later to Spain to crash out of the Confederations Cup after their first 6-1 win over Tahiti.
