There has been no casualty so far following yesterday’s heavy rain in Oron, Akwa Ibom state which led to the collapse of two houses on Oron Road.
According to reports, youth leader in the area, Etifit Nkereuwem, also said that no one was injured either as the occupants were all away during the fall.
“Two houses collapsed. But the one at number 178b Oron Road, was completely submerged in water. Only a part of the other building collapsed for now,” he said.
“From what we have gathered so far, nobody was around at the time of the incident.
“Some of the occupants went to villages while others went to churches. They only returned to see the collapsed buildings.”

The Punch reports:
It was learnt that while one of the houses was completely submerged in the water before it collapsed, only part of the second building was affected.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Etim Dickson, said the police were making enquiry about the collapsed buildings.
“The Divisional Police Officer in the area is already on the situation. As soon as they get the report, I will get back to you,” he said.
