President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday promised that the Federal Government under his leadership would ensure that young Nigerians did not need godfathers to survive.
He said the government would serve as godfather to all Nigerians and would continue to protect them while they are expected to reciprocate by being patriotic.

Jonathan spoke while inspecting the products displayed by some of the 1,200 first set of beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria Programme, otherwise known as YouWin, shortly before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The products displayed included cassava cake, beverages and textile products.
The President promised to build a country that the younger generation would believe in and have a higher degree of patriotism.

He said, “On behalf of the Federal Executive Council, and indeed the Federal Government, we promise you to keep to our faith of encouraging young Nigerians that you don’t need godfathers.

“The country should be the godfather of everybody. The government should be the godfather of every Nigerian and we will continue to encourage the young people.”
